Newstead
Got in some frags today from a recent sale. LPS and softies, but I ordered 1 acro frag just to see how it would do in my tank. Think there is some live tissue, but not much - I assume acros shouldn't have sponges, etc. growing on them. Put it on a new plug because there was GHA on the plug it was on and a 1/4 inch very fast dark bug ran out of some zoas in the order. Does it have a chance? I know it was a cheapo, but didn't quite expect it to look like this. Link to comment
ajmckay
Yeah looks pretty bad. Oddly enough I usually find those pineapple sponges in dark areas in my tank. Wonder if this frag has spent some time in the dark, or flipped upside down? If there's still flesh there's still hope IME. Keep it in the right conditions and hopefully it grows. You might consider taking a soft toothbrush or something and taking off the extraneous growths. Link to comment
Newstead
Thanks, AJ. I was surprised too about the sponges - only find them in low flow dark caves in my tanks. Think this acro has seen some hard times. Link to comment
basser1
Let me guess, it came from someplace with the initials SC? May want to give it a dip as well Link to comment

Clown79
It may come back. You'd be surprised. I purchased a sps for $5 at a lfs. It barely had any flesh on it. It bounced back and has grown a lot of flesh. Link to comment
uwdanno
I've had SPS come back from looking seriously bad. Give it a good spot and leave it alone. Good luck! Link to comment
Newstead
Thanks, Clown and Uwharrie. Will see how it does. Link to comment

Wow that's terrible that a vendor would actually sell or ship a coral in that condition I don't care if it was from the bargain bin - just doesn't seem right. Link to comment
Clown79
I've seen worse being sold in stores. Won't name places but one place has literally dying coral on plugs full of algae for $10 The other place sells bleached out colonies, shriveled frogspawn thats down to skeleton for full price...quite disgusting if you ask me. Most corals don't need to be fed, most ppl feed their corals including acros. Feeding it coral food can help it recover snd grow Link to comment
CaptJab
Can someone message me where it came from or just tell us all? I sure don't want to waste any of my money there. Link to comment
