MarkFernandez2103
Hello reefers! I just recently bought 2 new fish for my 45 gallon tank. I already had a watchman goby in there and a pistol shrimp. The fish I bought were a Flame Hawkfish (yes I'm aware of the shrimp risk) and a banggai Cardinalfish. Ever since then my watchman goby isn't as out going as he used to be, before the purchase he was always out and about now all the time he is very skittish whenever the hawk swims by and is only really present at feeding time. I know in the wild the hawkfish will eat gobies but this hawkfish has been a model citizen. I have a cleaner shrimp in there and he lets him clean him. I also added peppermint shrimp after he or she was in there for 3 days and he or she didn't eat them. ( these peppermint a were iddy bitty about 1 inch). I'm just concerned for my goby and how he might get too stressed. Should I return the hawk and get something else or should I just let time pass and see if he gets used to the hawk Thank you Thank you Link to comment
Clown79
Well Hawkfish are predators especially to smaller fish. They are known to go after shrimp gobies. The watchman is a smaller fish. You take a risk by having the hawkfish. The goby is acting the way it is as a natural protective measure. Link to comment
uwharrie
My Hawkfish ate all my shrimp in a day. He does leave the hermits and emerald alone. He also is my favorite fish. Such personality. Link to comment
