Tank cycle progress

Week 1

nitrate 20ppm

nitrite 3.0 ppm

 

total alkaline 300ppm

 

ph saltwater 8.2

on the ammonia it just says stressed on the test tube gives me no numbers but definitely went up a lot !!! I spike on it

 

 

Week 2

nitrate 40

nitrite 1.5

 

total alkaline 300ppm

 

ph 7.8

for amonia it just says safe it's on green in other words according to the chart it is now at 0

And I am using the API salt water master kit

 

Week 3

Nitrate 20 ppm

Nitrite 0 ppm

Total alkaline 180ppm

Ph 7.8

Amonia 0

 

I used API test kit and test strips do all them both always read the same till week three my baby thru my API kit to the trash and my wife thru it out by accident but still had the test strips and just to make sure they were rigth I tooked it to petsmart to get checked got read the same results so what do u guys think of the cycle is it done have not made no water change yet got cycled with live rock and dry rock

If your tests continue to read 0 ammonia for more than a week then a water change can be performed.

 

After that, I would still test to ensure there are no spike before adding anything

Sounds good :) hey clown are the tetra strips for the salt water good ? Scince rigth now my baby thru away my api salt water master kit I. Only have does tetra test strips and scince I invested everything on my tank rigth now I'm on a bit of a budget

They aren't the greatest test kit. I would back up the testing with the pet store.

 

The best kits are salifert and red sea. When you get into testing calcium, alk, and mag those are the preferred kits.

I've used Api for ca and alk but the above kits are more accurate
