WRX
I have a Reefer 250 and am trying to figure out what I should do for flow in the tank. I have a MP40 now, and could put it on one of the sides but I think I'd prefer nothing on the sides. Option 2 is to put the MP40 on the back, or would this be more effective with one on each side of the back? Would 2 MP40 be overkill and 2 MP10 be better? Link to comment
bob115
I don't know if its the ideal set up, but I have the 170 and have two MP10s on the back one on each side of the overflow and staggered vertically. I have them at ~40% and as far as I can tell is sufficient. I imagine you'd have to have them turned up quite a bit higher to have adequate flow for the 250. Which has its own trade offs with sound and lifespan and all that. How thick is the glass on the 250? You might be at or over the recommended thickness for the 10s. I can't imagine two MP40s having any trouble making enough flow, though. If you didn't already have a 40, I'd even consider 3 10s for similar cost to be able to run them slower and get more even flow. Link to comment
WRX
The rear glass is 10mm or 1/2". The more economical route is picking up 1 mp40 opposed to 2 mp10. As long as it won't be too strong and blow the substrate around I'll probably get another mp40. Link to comment
WRX
Ordered a 2nd mp40. Hoping to get the tank running this weekend. Link to comment
pelphrey
I tried my mp10 on my reefer 250. Wet and dry side never made a good connection, I sold the 10 and bought a mp40. I plan to add a gyre to the tank soon. Link to comment
