Rose Bubble Tip Anemone Missing

3 Weeks ago we bought a Green tip long tentacle anemone. It did not make it.

Don't know why it died, but, it started looking like crap about 5 days ago. I just removed what was left of the poor thing :( Used a Turkey Baster to suck it up.

Before I did this, I was looking the Tank over, and I can't see or find the RBTA that we have had since March or April. It just went missing overnight.

Did my best to look Under the Rocks, without physically moving them. Looked at the lone Power head, not there. Looked at the Overflow and in the back chambers, nothing.

I'm Stumped! Any Ideas to help me? Do Anemones just "Melt" away?

I just dosed the Tank with some Prime, in case of Ammonia. I do not have a current Parameters

reading. Need to go to LFS. I will get this done t'day.

Everything else is looking good. The Corals, The Clown and other Inverts are all looking fine.

Please, if anyone has had a similar experience, please share.

Thanks :)

Mike

What are your water parameters? maybe it's not happy because se of that. I know that when they are not happy, BTA's release off the rock. Mine ended up in the back chamber of my Nanocube once. I couldn't beleive it actually squeezed through such a small space without it being ripped apart. Sometimes they shrink and hide underneath your LR.

Just got back from LFS. Parameters are as follows.

Cal.........480

Alk..........9

Nitrates...10

Salinity....1.023

Phosphate... 0.5

Brandy mentioned that the Anemone could have shrunk down to about the size of a Nickle and is hiding in or under a rock.

So, this lines up with ur comment about shrinking in Size.

Regarding the back chambers, Where the "Overflow" is, I have the Mechanical Filter, a Sponge, that is right there to catch stuff

immediately going in. I did check back there, of course, but did not see any obvious sign of it's passing thru.

So, I am hoping it is just "Hiding".

Agreed. Test your water and just wait . Mine shrinks incredibly tiny sometimes . Usually at night , but sometimes during the day and it scares me. It can be 5" wide and 6" tall or 1" wide and 1/2" thick . Crazy

TY All...Finally found it. It was Near it's place and was Squeezed or shrunken up fairly tight.

Just saw it, and it is starting to come back out. :)
