Cf lighting on a 28 nano

Will cf lights be ok for a nano cube mixed reef (no sps)?

I picked up a nano cube and was thinking of setting it up as a mixed reef with mostly soft corals and zoas.

It came with cf lights and I was wondering if those would work for soft corals? Maybe add a led strip to add more blue.

Or I have the option of getting a 150 watt MH hood?

I would love to do the metal halide as I love the look but since I wont be running a chiller I'm worried about heat but the room its in never gets above 70 or so, because its a basement that stays cold.

What is cf lights?

You don't need metal halide to support corals but they do require a certain amount of lighting.

Lighting requirements for corals is something that needs to be fully researched.

Compact florescent

I'm not out of the loop on corals as i have had my fair share of reef tanks, Im just wondering if the compact florescent will work or should I get the metal Halide?

Standard fluorescent won't provide what they need.

I know PC lighting can house corals but low lighting corals. The cost of bulb replacement every 6 mnths will get costly.

T5ho - is the best option for corals. Not only is the colouration great but you can kerp anything eith the right bulbs/qty of bulbs. Bulb replacement gets costly.

Metal halide- can keep anything(may burn low lighting corals) expensive on hydro costs and heating issues.

LED- the go to now due to low cost in hydro, no bulb replacement costs, little heat caused.
