Yes, but you need a top. Firefish do get a decent size, I think the red is smaller than purple. I would probably stick with something smaller for long term success.

I agree with Tamberav. I would stick with a Clown Goby or something similar in a tank of that size.

Okay, will do once I have the tank set up. Okay for the goby, yellow clown it is

my 4 gallon houses a green clown goby and some Xenia and both are doing great. In my other tank I have a forest of about 50 Xenia on one rock and when my GCG was acclimating in that tank he was always darting through the Xenia or perching on them. Never had a firefish though

If you want fun, greenbanded gobies, you could have a pair or small group no problem. They are tiny but super active. Just make sure you have a lid.
