Not so sexy corals

I am kinda curious what venders, especially online venders, do with corals that aren't "premium." Do they have the luxury of only getting nice pieces or do they recycle to their LFS? Not trying to throw stones but I am curious. Especially with the seemingly more about selection of beautiful corals available

They put as much actinic over them as possible then add the disclaimer (may not look the same under your lighting).

Seriously though, what do you consider not premium? Corals like watermelon zoas, red mushrooms, xenia, ect still sell, they just fetch a lower price. When I bring stuff to the swap, the common "noob" corals always sell quickly.

Oh, I was referring to the Lopi Luwak of corals of ridiculous price. Another thread had me curious so... I asked

They modify the names often, creating an increase in price.

A great selling tactic is upping the blue in the tank to make the corals "pop"

I went on a coral shopping day and went to about 5 different stores.

The mom and pop shop had 2 large heads of frogspawn for $30. No special names, no superblue lights. Just very large frogspawn.

In another store the blues were upped, they gave the frogspawn a "name" and 1 small head was $30

Do they sell just a strip of blue LEDs? I have some blue but I would like to make my stuff pop more like those shops do

ecoxotic stunner strips and reef brites are the two off the top of my head.
