Does anyone know if you cut a piece of intank's filter floss a little bigger than the size of the second chamber and put it in if it will work without using a media basket?

Would you try to run it vertically or horizontal? It would eventually sink to the floor, unless your using some kind of basket, Like the original top filter piece? Or are you thinking of sticking a large bulk piece in the chamber?

Horizontally. I thought if I cut a piece slightly bigger than the opening that it pressing against the walls might keep it there. I'm not sure if the water would push it down. Optionally, I have a heater in that chamber that is near the surface. I could put it on top of that and that might keep if from moving down. I don't know how thick the sheets are from intank but those are the ones I ordered.

You could have a piece of egg crate wedged on top of your heater and then floss on top of that...

or you could just use egg crate to customize a basket that'll house your heater and/or work with what your trying to do in chamber 2
