Purplerainbowflush
Hi all, is there something wrong with this anemone? I bought it as a "bta", and it kind of looks like a bta, but someone on Reddit just said it looks bleached. Is it? Or is it fine? It has these really tiny pink tops to the bubbles that you can't really see in the photos. It is also on the move as I had only just put it in after acclimating. So whatever has happened to it (if anything) happened at the store. Thanks so much for any help Link to comment
Tamberav
It does indeed look bleached. I'm sure someone will chime in with experience, I haven't had to bring one back but I believe small feedings and appropriate lighting/water parameters would do it some good. Link to comment
Purplerainbowflush
thanks for the quick response! Yeah the more I look at the photo the more I think I was stupid for buying it. My water Params are pretty good. The tank is just over 6 months old, very stable Params at: Salinity 1.024, ph 8.2 0mg/l for ammonia, nitrite, 0-5mg/l for nitrate .25ppm for phos calcium 420, alk 7 I have a big Duncan, two torches, a goniopora, lots of zoas and just two clown fish. Hoping I'll be able to bring it back. Will start target feeding tonight. What do you all think I should do with the lights? Any other suggestions very welcome Link to comment
CronicReefer
Was it sold to you as a rose BTA or a green BTA. If it's a green BTA it looks pretty good to me. Green BTAs are usually pretty pale in color but under actinic lighting the zooaxanthelae should really pop. If it's suppposed to be a rose BTA then it is slightly bleached in appearance but nothing serious. Link to comment
Purplerainbowflush
Thanks CronicReefer. It was just sold as a BTA, nothing specifically. I thought that the super pink tips looked cool on the paler skin so went for it. I'll see what it looks like when I get home from work and update the thread. It was on the move when I left for work this morning, crawling up the rock work, so it doesn't look sick in that it can move around freely, but I just hope it doesn't die. I'd really like my clowns to be hosted by it. Thanks for your help, will see how it looks when I get home Link to comment
Purplerainbowflush
Okay came home and fed it mysis. It has moved upside down under a rock shelf out of the flow, and looks pretty happy. The bubbles a fairly elongated and not a whole lot of extra colour. Is it something I should just wait and see? Link to comment

You should see it gain more color over the next few weeks as it settles in. I recommend a more substabtial food though. Silversides seems to be the recommended food by a lot of breeders and long time anemone keepers and is what I have been feeding mine. Link to comment
Purplerainbowflush
It's tips are turning 'sharper', and look like they're getting a tinge of green, so hopefully I've got a green bta! It is still hanging upside down and looks like it's getting more and more healthy. Thanks heaps for your comments, if I can figure out how to upload another photo I will! Got it haha Link to comment
