Weird anemone issue

My water parameters are perfect

When I read this, I always wonder what parameters are being tested, which kits are being used, what the actual values are, and how stable these values have been over time.

While I agree with the others that this seems pretty normal, I wonder if they split because they were under stress, or if everything was good when they split. Does everything else look normal?

My water is tested twice a month from two seperate sources (petco and lfs) so I'm sure I'm getting correct readings. These were recently moved and I'm sure that's part of the split. Additionally the prior owner had them split 6 times on him in the 3 years he had them. It seems normal for them. I've read that anemones split for stress or happy. I hate when people assume my tank is off. I work my butt off to make sure everything is healthy. Hence my immediate concern.

No one is assuming anything. It is a valid question.

try using salifert tests. some tests are more accurate than others. I would not test the kits that one gets at petco or any big box chain store. I test about once week or more often depending if I am worried about something. its good to have them on hand to trouble shoot.

But the question is valid, what is being tested? Nitrates? Phosphates, alk, calcium, iodine..... No one is assuming your tank is off, but we do wonder which tests are being used. It is a commonly asked question. When I post concerns, people ask me, what are my parameters - I tell them and I don't get defensive - it is a mechanism of trouble shooting, also there is no shame in having off parameters - we all get off parameters from time to time. I am struggling keeping alk, mag and calcium up and was struggling to keep the temperature down.

Sometimes a splitting anemone is signs of it being stressed out. Could be light, could be temperature, could be a lot of things. Could be its fat and happy and wants more of itself. I have an anemone I want to split. She split once and I lost her sister, but now she's so big she should split.

Question I can floor you is, what manner of water are you using? Tap, RODI, Distilled, made in store, natural sea water? I use RODI and reef crystals. I used to use tap. Had all manner of issue with tap, not anymore. I don't doubt you work your butt off to keep it happy and healthy, but are you sure of what information they give you.. I wouldn't hence why I got the kits for myself. What is the salinity and is the Refractometer calibrated correctly. I typically post my parameters up when I make a post so people can check what is up, and sometimes I post a longer list of them if I feel something is fluctuating too much may be an issue.

All the experienced people on here that try to help always ask for parameters. No big thing. It's cool you love your tank so much!!?

Doesn't sound like anything to worry about then, right? I think it will be fine.

That's cool. But since "perfect" could be open to interpretation, I usually ask what the actual values are.
