White
I have been in search of a glass cylinder aquarium since I joined the hobby. Something unique that I could build. A local member placed this 19.6g orb up for sale with no price tag so I immediately jumped on it. After a long gap in response followed by more long gaps in communication, I finally got him to meet up with me. The seller was extremely hesitant to part with it still. This was quickly becoming a one time chance so I snatched it up. The story goes it was hand blown for a lab. I'm guessing the slight chipping on the rim made it unsafe for lab use. It sizes up to about the size of a Solana and is predrilled in the center. After much thought I'm going to do either a whiskey barrel or a round stand. Not to sure on how much equipment I could cram in a barrel though. I have a kessil 360we which I personally think is overkill. The lps reef seems to be a great direction to go with a initial focus on ruby dragonets and blastos. At one point I owned a Solana which is one of my favorite tanks but I'm looking for advice on equipment and how to best work with the shape. Link to comment
william_payne1
Sounds cool to me! the nice thing about kessil is you can adjust it so well to fit an application like this. Plus overkill isn't always a bad thing... you may have to get creative with the return. Link to comment
White
Ok, so after much moving and such, I will finally have time to attack this again. I could use some Sump advice? Link to comment
vlangel
That looks so cool and I love what you plan to do with it! Sorry however, I am more of a standard diy sump girl so not sure how you should tackle that. Link to comment
White
I found this end table on FB sales, very well constructed. Link to comment
White
Sorry I dont know why they keep loading sideways. Anyhow, I'm going to router it a bit wider so it sits lower. Then add some support to the base and under the top. Where are my engineers at? Should I metal brace the 3 main supports? It holds my weight standing on it but I dont know about long term. Also with the color I plan to bend wrought iron up the back to about 14" above the top for the kessil. Link to comment
