Hello reefers.

I have been stalking NR for several years but haven't share any build post yet. I would think this will be the appropriate time to share the upcoming new build I have.

Long story short. I am having a 15 gallon nano running for 3 months now which is mainly softies and LPS dominated tank, with 1 happy living juvenile red coris wrasses. Since I am lacking of space to put all my corals, I started to looking at larger tank. It ends up with customized build with Crystal Dynamic at Carlsbad CA, a rimless 100 gallon. I got recommended by other forum member and Crystal Dynamic's price is very impressive. Right now I am waiting for the customized tank to be finished, which will mostly be happened for another two weeks from now...

New tank in progress:

Here is the drawing I created using Google Sketch Up.

It is a 3 side Starphire glass with 1/2" thickness, black back panel with ghost overflow drain drilling and one return. Clear silicon bonding. the dimension is 48"L x 23"W x 21"H.

Stand:

I also found a local guy who makes tank stand and canopy for a living on SoCalReef forum. Below is the ADA style stand I got from him last week.

Stand measured at 48 1/4 " L x 23 1/4" W x 32" H. The picture is before the stain process. You will need to stain or paint the stand yourself. The floor in the picture is not even so you will see the door on the right hand side is not aligned properly. Once you level stand the base with some wedges the door will self adjust to the proper position.

As for the equipment, I already gathered all the gears I want (new/used depends on the availability I can find), and setup the sump, skimmer, ATO and GFO reactor on my current 15 gallon nano.

Equipment list as below:

Lighting : 2 x Kessil A360WE with Kessil Spectral Controller with mounting arms. 1 x Kessil A160WE which been paired with my 15 gallon nano. This A160 will be a spare light for the new 100 g build.

Sump : Trigger system tideline series 36. This sump is a monster!

Skimmer : NYOS Quantum 160.

Return : Mag 9.5 pump. I am waiting for the Neptune COR to be released...

Power head : Neptune WAV starter kit.

Refugium light : Lowes light bulb clamp with 5000K spiral bulb.

Misc :

Synergy Reef 16" ghost overflow box

BRS GFO reactor

Apex full with breakout box

Avast Marine Peristaltic Pump for auto top off

Coral (Currently in my 15 g) :

Various softies : All zoanthids and paly includes orange bam bam, fruit drop, passion polyps, fire & ice, cocos pink, baby pink, irish girl and utter chaos.

Various acans : Peppermint, purple & green, lavender, devils eye, red & green, unknown micromussa.

Other LPS : Purple & green Galaxea, 3 heads frogspawn, Christmas favia, war favia, candy cane.

SPS : Currently having only one small frag of acro.

Livestock (currently in 15 g):

1 juvenile red coris wrasse

2 asterias turbo snails

15 g nano parameters are all in good shape.

NO3 around 1 ppm.

PO4 at 0.03 to 0 ppm.

KH 8.5 ~ 9 dKH.

Ca 440 ppm.

Mag 1400 ppm.

Will update with pictures once the new 100 g build started.

Matteo,

Well it is because I used Kessil A160 on my 15 g already and loved the versatility paired with spectral controller. I saw AI and other lights (Radion) in person and IMO I still don't like their disco ball effect...

I am surprised you think those have a disco ball effect. Those are the better LEDs on the market which are known to not have that really but hey everyone's eyes are different! I am not dissing kessils. Just was curious :)

Sorry, not nano box. I edited it to AI.

Yes everyone has their own preference. Maybe in the future I might change to Radion or nano box. but right now i will stick with Kessil and see how it goes.

Ordered and got 95 lb dry rock from Reef Cleaner. John Maloney rocks! He managed to pick evenly distributed weight of small medium and large rock pieces, also with arch and little rubble. Rock is clean but it will be needed rinse to get rid of the dust.

Dry stack up. Will need cement or glue to glue some joint together.

Have to put sticker on each rock piece since it is hard to build the same aquaspace once you take all the rocks apart.
