Red Hair Alage

this is my brothers tank, and im not sure what is causing this..

 

 

i clean it up and next day it back.. its getting out of control.

 

i am running carbon/gfo hob filter.

 

its just a 30 gallon tank.. nothign special in here!! lol

 

 

what could be causing this.

That looks like cyanobacteria, not red hair algae. How old is the tank, what are the nitrates, phosphates, etc.?

HI! It looks like Cyan to me also- is it easily removed? I had the same problem a month or so back and didn't know what to do. I have a turkey baster thingy(technical term obviously). I used it to blow it off the areas every night. It shows up again the next day with the lights however I have been diligent with water changes and now it is minimal. My beginner advice is to keep removing, solid water changes and watch how long lights are on :-) Also others on the site advised me to up my CUC- I thought I had plenty but my crew got lazy. Now I have 1 Turbo, 1 Conch(the most amazing IMO), 5-7 crabs, 3-5 snails and my cleaner shrimp.

Give it time it will go away if you keep on it!
