aj.solis
I have a 10gal diy AIO currently and am ready to upgrade. My plan is a 20 gal long with two 1" intakes and one 3/4" returns. Underneath stand I can fit a 20L or a 10 gal but unsure which would be ideal. I've attached a designed I sketched up. Need input on design of sump and which size would be ideal for 20 gal Long DT? Mojado
You want the skimmer section baffle at least 9" tall. Link to comment

What were you able to fit is what I'm wondering? You want the skimmer section baffle at least 9" tall. curious why does it have to be 9" first time doing sump? Link to comment

Cencalfishguy56
heres my sump when I was first setting up the tank, ill tank a current pic in a bit Link to comment
Matteo
looks fine for what it is. +1 on the 9inches on the skimmer, also I would add a bubble trap on the skimmer to refugium side to just be safe of the nuisance of micro bubbles Link to comment
aj.solis
Should I attach black acrylic or paint the fuge baffles black? Link to comment
Cencalfishguy56
Should I attach black acrylic or paint the fuge baffles black?it might be smart so algae doesn't grow in the other sections Link to comment

You want your skimmer area to be at least 9" because most skimmers need a water height between 6"-9". If your skimmer needs 7" of water height, but your skimmer area is 9" deep, you can just raise it by placing it on pvc elbow joints. A year later, you get a different skimmer that needs 9", your skimmer area can accommodate it. However, if you only made your skimmer area 6" deep and your skimmer needs 7", you're outta luck. aj.solis
Here's my 20L sump Man that's a lot going on in that little sump. I Probably won't do all that rerouting for extra flow. Link to comment
aj.solis
Another thing I want to put on my DT is clear bulkheads and plumbing like you see in pictures below but the only place I can find that has them does not carry 3/4" in. Only 1/2" and 1". So what are my options? Should I go with 1" overflow and return or 1" overflow and 1/2" return? Link to comment
Halo_003
I would do 3 1" holes, 2 1/2" return holes. That way you can set it up as a Bean animal overflow with an external box later on. Link to comment
aj.solis
Would I do 1" pipe up from pump then reduce it when it splits to go to the 1/2" return heads? Link to comment

With light, you can have stuff grow inside that'll slow flow down. Link to comment
