bjolly2
I have a 28gal jbj nanocube and only one row of the lights are working. One row of the white lights works and none of the blue lights work. Is this repairable? worth repairing? or do I just need a new hood altogether? Link to comment
Simulated Fish
I have a 28gal jbj nanocube and only one row of the lights are working. One row of the white lights works and none of the blue lights work. Is this repairable? worth repairing? or do I just need a new hood altogether? what would you consider is "budget friendly" everyone has a different budget At you handy and enjoy DIY? I have heard good things about Steve's LED retrofit and you can save a nice some money if you assemble it yourself Link to comment
bjolly2
unfortunately my diy ability is nil. Looking on jbj's website, I see that you can order new light strips, or order a whole new hood. Given that 4 of my 5 light strips crapped out on me, does that suggest that something is wrong in the system somewhere? I'd hate to spring for new lights and have them go out too. Could something be bad with the driver, or with the wiring in the hood, that made them go out? I can afford to replace the hood but I don't want to spend the $ and then have it not fix the problem. FlowLikeWater
why not take the hood off and mount a LED light above Link to comment
evilc66
Personally, I wouldn't bother looking into repairing the stock setup. They weren't that great in the first place, and had reliability issues like you are seeing now. If you want to keep the hood and have little to no DIY skills, then I would say go with a retro kit from Nano Box Reef. Best color in the business, and controllable. That retro is about the easiest to install. If you want to take the top off, there are a number of good options out there depending on the features you want as well as your budget. Link to comment
bjolly2
I actually like having the hood and having it all enclosed. Just want the darn thing to work. sorry evilc66, just saw your response after I posted. I will look into the Nano Box retro kit. Link to comment
