Luis-av
So I've already had a 10 gallon reef and ran it for a year and took it down recently because I've been considering upgrading My thoughts are a 20 gallon Equipment 2 ecoxotic panorama pro modules (already have) Maybe add a par38 That should do for lighting Aq 110 with intank media basket, haven't decided on filter media tunze 9001 or hydro slim skim nano Hydor theo 100 watt heater A koralia nano Minimalistic on the aquascape and use life rock or reel reef rock 20 lbs of live sand Trying to do a minimal amount of water changes and will be mixing my own water What salt is best for use Please let me know what you think and I'd love to hear some recommendations especially on filter media Thanks Link to comment
Sal10104
for water changes i would do 5 gallons bi-weekly for media i'd use some simple filter floss and carbon media bags, poly filter, etc Link to comment
Stephosaurus
Do you plan to mod your AC110? You can put the Tunze 9001 in there and modify it to be a refugium, not sure if you've looked into that already. For media: Chemi-Pure Blue (only has to be changed like every 2-3 months, as opposed to 2-3 weeks like carbon) PhosGuard or GFO to keep phosphate in check (I'd recommend the PhosGuard) Filter Floss All of these should help keep your water crystal clear! For salt, something reef specific...like Reef Crystals or Kent. With a new tank, frequent (weekly) water changes will give you more likeliness for success, but you should be fine doing 5g bi-weekly. You won't have to worry about water changes until the tank cycles anyhow. Link to comment
Luis-av
I was thinking about the throwing a tunze 9001 in there, but I found someone locally selling a hydor slim skim for a solid price so I've been thinking about that but I believe that has to go into the tank and I'm trying to avoid all the equipment in the tank Link to comment
captainruiz
What are you thinking in regards to fish and coral stock? Link to comment
Luis-av
4 maybe 5 fish, surely a pair of clowns and anything else that I find and think would fit well at the lfs, as for corals in the ten I stuck to gsp, zoas, ricordeas, and some lps, For the 20 I will incorporate all of those besides the gsp, but I've been considering getting into sps because I love the look of them after growth in a tank, I've recently been considering making a sump out of the ten for this build but I'd like to do some more research and plan on how to set that up if I were to go that route Link to comment
