D3monic
I tried a search to see what skimmers where popular and most threads I came up with was 5+ years old there has to be newer skimmers or other suggestions by now. What is everyone using or what are your recommendations for the JBJ nano cub 28gal LED pro? I'm open to in chamber or HOB/side. I've been set up for little over a year but due to a job loss shortly after setting up no other money got put into the tank. Link to comment

Tunze 9001 skimmer fits I believe can't quite remember but I think so, really easy to dial in and super quiet Link to comment

You can even keep your media basket with this one, and from what I have read, it's the #1 rated HOB skimmer. http://www.marinedepot.com/AquaMaxx_HOB_1_Hang_On_Back_Protein_Skimmer_Hang_On_Venturi_Needle_Wheel_Protein_Skimmers-AquaMaxx-UJ1151-FIPSHONW-vi.html Link to comment
jestep
^that or the octopus BH1000, which also fits and allows use of the media basket as well. Link to comment

Seems to be reviews though. On the reef octopus is there concern for the external pump popping off the unit? Link to comment

On the reef octopus is there concern for the external pump popping off the unit? No. It's very well attached to the base of the skimmer with heavy duty unions. If the pump came off, you'd be having other problems because the skimmer itself would probably be in pieces. Link to comment
D3monic
Ok awesome, i'lll put this on the blow money I don't really have list. Appreciate the input. Link to comment
D3monic
How do you guys feel about the innovative marine aqua gadget ghost vs the aquamaxx hob 1? I kind of like that it fits in the back chamber instead of hanging outside the tank and the lower profile keeps it out of view. Has anyone had any experience with it? Link to comment
StevieT
That would be your worst option. It would need a custom mount either something like eggcrate for it to rest on or for you to add magnets. The 9001 would be a much better skimmer choice if you wanted it inside the chamber. But it's such a tight space that it blocks incoming water and can spill over into the top plate of the skimmer. The best skimmer option for the NC28 is a HOB. If you don't want to look at one you can try the 9001, or go skimmerless. Just use a media basket in the intake chamber and keep up with water changes.
