rockryno
Ever heard of a damsel eating SPS polyps? I introduced a 4 stripe, black and white damsel to my tank today and he immediately went into a bridsnest colony and started nipping the branches. I thought it odd, as damsels are supposed to be reef safe. I watched him for a while. He will swim between the branches and nip at the polyps every 2-3 seconds. Its hard to see, but I swear after he nips, a white hole appears where a green polyp was. Can he really be eating the corals? Video: Link to comment
Elizabeth94
He could be eating pods or any small critters on the birdsnest, but I wouldn't automatically assume thats what it is. I just had to return my Damsel, I watched him pull off a tentacle of my elegance coral. Next morning he was out. Link to comment
