My plans for my tank are ALOT of SPS & LPS with a clam eventually. That includes Chalices, Birds nest, Stylophora, MAYBE a few easy acros, and most of all MONTICAPS!! For LPS zoas, acans, plates, candycanes, Blastos, and some favias to top it off. For NPS Torches, hammers, and frogspawn. Don't be afraid to load these tanks up! If something gets too big frag it and sell/trade it back to a LFS helps to pay for the tank and you still get to enjoy the tank.

Look into getting some nice zoas for your tank! The way you setup your rock work it would look really nice if you covered one of the rocks with colorful zoas. You don't need to necessarily get name brand zoas but if you get some you can frag and resell them!

Pic of what I think may be a Chiton? Based on what Google tells me..

You must be psychic... ;)

My vision has Zoas on the base at the one point in the bottom front and the bottom back/side of the tank. I will try to find the nicest I can locally even if it's 1-2 polyps and let them spread a little. There is an overhang or three where I may try dendro and chilli corals underneath, eventually.

Sweet! What are you planing to do on the island on the right?

That I am not sure.. I wanted to put a nice peice of LR on it to make it a tad bit taller... I could maybe do a Ricordea island at the base with more colourful varieties... Not sure though, yet.

I made a rack out of eggcrate an zip ties and have my Aquatic Life 115 running now in chamber 1. I don't know why Reefthuz cuts his and makes a big production out of it. It easily fit, the egg crate keeps it sitting at the perfect height.. Done. Didn't have to hack stuff apart.

And another unrelated update, the red hair algae is turning white and dying. The fuge area in the back seems to be getting some greenish algae on the glass. I have been running the fuge light at night.

Might be CUC time...

Love that idea! Getting a larger tank so will be moving everything but the sun coral and mushrooms out if the biocube. Figured the mushrooms wouldn't mind staying in the higher nitrates - they are growing and splitting like crazy in there now. How do ricordias do with higher nutrients? May have to try a rock of those.

Mushrooms, rhodactis, ricordea are all very hardy. I think your fish would feel the effects of dirty water before the mushrooms..

I just set up my InTank media rack with floss, Purigen, and Chemi Pure Blue.. Skimmer is running well and everything seems ready to go. My Nitrates have risen a bit, I suck at comparing the colour in the tube to the chart so not entirely confident to say a specific number. I used two different kits and both detected nitrates, no ammonia and no nitrite.

The skimate looks darker today.. Still not quite half a cup. It doesn't look to me like there is enough flow through the refugium. I put cheato in yesterday. Here are my updated FTS.. As well as a couple additions. I bought 6 Nassarius, they looked so small.

The brachiosaurus Blennies are Beatrice and Wray... Long story

Beatrice is actually Bob.. Now I have to catch one and return it to the store. They will give me the female and frags in exchange for the mix up. Great customer service IMO

I had to catch one of my brachiosaurus Blennies. Due to an error I was given two males and they were not playing nice. I had to tak out nearly all the rocks and my skimmer as the little guy was playing hard to catch. I couldn't get my rocks back the way they were so here is the new aquascape. Now I have my male and female pair! And a free acan frag for my troubles. Thanks Ray! Got them all from Coral Reef Shop in Burlington, awesome store with great looking livestock!

Sun Coral.. appears to be doing well and eats flakes every other day. I need to get some Mysis cubes to feed it and maybe some Cyclopeeze or similar.

Hi! Welcome back to the hobby! I too have recently returned from a many year hiatus! lol. Those blennies are adorable! I have never seen one before. And even though you had a hard time catching one, the new rockscape looks great, and anytime you get a free frag it's a good thing :) It's always so exciting when people first start tanks! So many possibilities

The fuge is the same for both. The media rack is smaller for oceanic. The only mod I had to do was to cut a peice of the trim so the media rack fit tight against the divided between area 1 and 2.

The fuge rack is not the same for both. Look again.

I have a silly question, do ya'll turn off your pumps, wave makers, skimmers, etc, when you feed your fish/tank?

I turn off the power head when I feed my corals but not when I feed the fish. They hit the food as soon as it hits the water.

New FTS.. Water change day. Also test results for calc at 520 and dKH at 9. Tested after water change.

I am going to remove the shell I placed in the tank. I put it in there bc the Blennies come from Oyster bed areas but they don't seem to care it's there and it probably traps detritus under it..

I picked up another hood for my Biocube. A local reefer had a crack in his glass, therefore was selling this hood. Inside of it, is a nearly brand new Steve's LED retrofit kit. I got the hood on my tank this morning. Took about ten minutes total since I had to unplug things and run chords through the tiny hole in the back of the stand. Otherwise it takes 30 seconds to take off the hood.

I have it set at 25% as the max for both the white and blue. I start the blue channel at 1000 with a two hour fade in. The white starts at 1200 with a two hour fade in. White starts to fade out at 1800 and turns off at 2000. Blue starts to fade out at 2000 and off at 2200. Next weekend I'll start turning it up 1% a day until I hit the magic number, whatever that ends up being. I wil have to relocate some things into the shade a bit or lower in the tank. The setosa and the chalice are maybe too exposed once the light is increased.
