Nanoreefjoe
Hi fellow reefers, My name is Joseph and i am 15 years old this is my first reef tank build I have had very little experience in the tank world but I spent my time researching for the best equipment and this is what I have. Equipment Biocube 29 Cobalt 100w heater Kassil a160we Tunze osmolater Tunze 9004 protein skimmer 5 gallon acrylic auto top off container Apex Controller Home made stand Smaller needed accessories that are not worth listing. Refractometer 25 watt heater (water changes) Hydor 425 GPH (water changes) At this time my tank is around 5 months old I have been taking the livestock process very slow to try and avoid as many problems as possible but I have now learned it is impossible to avoid hiccups along the way. Live Stock Occelaris clown (X2) Acan Coral (orange) Green star polyp Torch Coral (Purple/Neon green) Frogspawn Coral (Green/Purple) Pagota Cup Nassarius Snails Branded trochus snails Cleaner shrimp I switched from doing 2 gallons a week too 4 gallons a week because my green star polyp was not opening and although my torch coral and frogspawn are open they are not fully expanded. I tested my water and everything is in check Calcium, Magnesium, Alkalinity, wise so I believe it may be a water quality issue. Below I will explain what i put in my In Tank Media Basket. I have now finished my second water change of 4 gallons and the tank is looking much better. In Tank Media basket Sponge Poly Filter Purigen Phos Fe I clean my In Tank Media Basket every week as well as my skimmer and I dip the sponge in hydrogen peroxide and put a new poly filter in. I have about 15 pounds of dry rock and 20 pounds of live sand. I will post more pictures soon. Link to comment

HarryPotter
Why do you dip the sponge in Hydrogen Peroxide? That will kill all the bacteria Link to comment
