Aren't clowns supposed to be reef safe?:-/

My female is nesting and biting everything including my sleeping Suns!!! The male is dancing for her again which he hasn't done since I got him. I think she's frustrated and her mate is too young to mate. I fed them, they acted starving, which they are not. I wanted to divert her attention because I forsee tonight at coral feeding time she's gonna do something bad. ;-(

Ooohhh Bob is mad!!! I think she's on her monthly or something. Now I have to guard the Suns and chase the clowns with a dropper. They are all well fed. Now she wants to be on the side of the tank that I wouldn't let her go to, just to be there lol. Mysis is like fish crack. Lol!!!?

When they start breeding they will clear off rock - i guess if that rock had some sort of soft coral they might nip it back?

They are reef safe, however a breeding pair of any clown can be nasty in my experience. My ocellaris took over my tank once they started laying eggs on a regular basis. They tried to beat up my 6 line wrasse and every other fish I tried to add did not last long. The female would bite my hand, bite the water siphon.. just about anything in the tank was in for a biting.

Yeah I just have the two ocellaris and a sun coral in there. My boy seems so small I don't think he's old enough to mate? I could be wrong. But I think she's in the mood and he has a headache and shes pissed lol. She's older, and a lot bigger, and pretty chunky but not noticeably showing in the mid section. Feeding Suns is hard enough without them trying to steal food out of them or bite them, then I have to babysit. The male copies the female and keeps dancing for her. It's like bite whatever you like just leave the Suns alone please!!! I'm a sucker though. I love them very much.

They don't really look pregnant imo.. I could have just been blind to it.

They basically start laying eggs every week like clockwork, at least they did for me. Would lay eggs, about a week later the eggs would hatch/die and the next day they would be laying eggs again.

Stealing food from corals is normal though. My cleaner shrimp doesn't let any coral that snags a mysis keep it for long.

Yeah, I feed them ahead ot coral feeding time and then I squirt some of what Iam feeding on the opposite of the tank so I know they are full!! Then it's like a game. Let's rip this food out of the coral and let it float away!! When I feed the corals I am not perfect so there's plenty for my clowns to get but its more fun to get it out of the coral. I swear, even though they are fish, they do have fun doing things lol. I chase them away and they "sneak" back over lol and I chase them back. They have no fear of me, my arm, hand, or the dropper lol.

Clwonfish are.jackasses, pure and simple... especially when they get into the breeding mindset. I'd like to chalk it all up to them being territorial, alas... they're just jerks
