fmfa0801
I have a 24" x 24" x 12 tall acrylic tank. This will be a SPS tank and want to do. DIY LED light from LED Group Buy. I want to use solder less LEDS and the ones that have 3 one one chip. 1. Should I use CREE or another brand? 2. I want the enclosed heat sink. what size and how many? 3. How many of the solder less 3 LEDS should I use? I do not want dark spots in the tank. I would like to hang the unit 8"-20" 4. I want to be able to dim each color separate. What power source and manual dimmer should I use? Thanks. Link to comment

jedimasterben
If you don't want any dark spots, you'll want to make four LED clusters, two rows of two, with ~6" between each cluster on both axes, so you'll need two heatsinks. You'll want to use at least two of the 3ups per cluster. I would not recommend leaving it with just two two LED colors, though. Inventronics drivers are manual or 0-10v controllable and are AC-DC, so they go right from the wall to the LEDs, so if you're looking for dirt-simple, that's what you will want. Each of the drivers has the number of each type of LED they can run on their product page. Link to comment
