Getting a Percula To Host

So i picked up a small sebae anemone on saturday and he's doing great. He's eating and is attached to my back wall. I have a percula who isn't hosting anything so i thought for sure he'd host the nem. But so far, he hasn't even given it a thought. Should i just wait or just accept that he isn't going to host.

From my research you want an anenome bigger than the clown. I believe twice the size, or the anenome will get too stressed

Tape a picture of a similar clown hosting the anemone on your tank near the nem. It's worked three separate times for me. You can also just wait a couple weeks and it will figure it out.

Is your perc wild caught or tank raised? Tank raised fish don't always know they are "supposed" to live in an anemone.

I've read the tape a picture up trick works frequently.

There are numerous other "methods" that are easy to find with a search.

I've heard mixed opinions on posting a picture on the side of the tank, I hope it works for you!

But pretty much, there is no guarantee that the anemone will host the clown.. usually its on the clowns end. Tank raised a lot of times won't ever take to an anemone. I heard from my LFS that they had a pair of clowns that were hosting in an anemone for years, he decided to sell them with the anemone and moved them into a different tank. They never touched the anemone after that. The previous owners of my clowns had long tentacle anemones in their tank and the pair never was never hosted, but within a week of me adding a bubble tip anemone, it was hosting my clowns.

I've done quite a bit of reading and bubble tip anemones seem to host clowns more often then other species.

Good luck!
