spaghetti leather warfare

So...i had to move my gsp colony that was sharing a rock with the white leather. It seems that the leather might be using toxic warfare on it...as it hasnt opened in a week.

Im actually thinking about getting rid of the gsp before it takes over my tank anyway...idk yet...still deciding.

The gsp is encrusted on rock rubble chips...so i was able to pop the rubble chips off of the bigger rock formation

GSP is a handsome coral. If it grew slower, people would be paying more for it. If it grew too slow, we'd be trying to get it to grow faster. It can, however, take over a lot of real estate fairly quickly.

As far as it not opening, I wouldn't worry that much about it. They tend to do that when fragged. If you are worried about chemical warfare, try running some fresh activated carbon.

Don't rid of the GSP, with proper care it's easy to take care of. As I tell every reefer with Xenia and GSP... Aren't we always looking for an excuse to alter/fix/do anything with our tank? There's a reason. They look great when properly cared for. Needless to say I had warefare once with it and it's easily treatable. My leather touches coral in my tank without issue, except that once. Provide the leather a little more flow, he may be in the process of shedding(growing) My leather will close for 3-7 days when he's about to shed and grow. As above said, run carbon. If you see stingy stuff(shedding) remove it by a net and provide more flow to speed up the process.

Here's a reference of my leather in a 33" tank. He sheds 2-3x a month, but easily cared for.

Yeah...i run carbon...and the leather is right in front of one of my wave makers...it sheds like every 3 days, there is a hermit that lives up there with the leather...he eats the skin and the gsp was there first and hasn't been fragged at all. Already moved it though...so moot point

Yea, just keep the carbon going, and if you can trim it away a little bit. If not, the leather will do it for you... just keep up the carbon
