snip84
Hello! I need help. I just bought this: http://www.hagen-deutschland.com/hagenservice/produkte-und-ersatzteile/aquaristik/econlux/solarstinger-sunstrip-marine-70/836/econlux-sunstrip-70-marine-450-mm?c=157 for my 54litre nano tank, with sps and lps. What i wanna know is, should i drive them on 100% blue and white or less? Can it be to much? The tank is 30cm high, and the fixture is like 15cm above the water. Also, is it ok to use the RGB's to or Will this promote just algae? tnx in advance! Link to comment
evilc66
If you are keeping sps, you are probably going to have to run the channels pretty high just to get the intensity you need. I would still start low, at about 50%, and work your way up slowly to where the corals are happy. Obviously, adjust the color to your liking and adjust the brightness from there. The RGB LEDs are there as a supplement. They are low enough power that they aren't going to create algae issues (that's more of a problem with nutrient levels than light spectrum), but they can help with color rendering slightly. For those that think that fixture looks familiar, it's the same as the Fluval Marine and Reef LED (Hagen is the parent company for Fluval) Link to comment
snip84
Im running them now on 80% blue and 65% white + red and green. 8hrs...should i go more? Link to comment
evilc66
Your corals will tell you everything you need to know. Just look for signs of stress, like bleaching or polyps closing up (too much light), or browning and stretching of polyps (too little light). Link to comment
