unusual LED light functioning

few months ago I built an LED light system with these specs:

3W blue leds x 25 (driver hlg-80h-c700B)

1 W white leds x 25 (driver hlg-60h-c700B)

Everything worked fine until few hours ago: the white LEDs stopped working. But not exactly. The multimeter tells me that there is a Voltage drop across the circuit of 120V (max output from the driver).

The strange part is the current: is only 0.031A while it should be 0.7A.

So I checked the wires with the multimeter and all is ok; I checked every light individually and they all work. I check the output of the driver, and it works properly.

I unplugged the driver (MeanWell HLG-60h-C700B) for about 1 hour and then re-plugged it, but nothing changed. No lights.

I am going crazy because I can't really understand what the problem is.

Has anybody experienced something similar? Any thoughts on what could possibly be?

What did you use to check the LEDs?

It's a little early to tell without more details, but what worries me is that you are running 1W LEDs at 700mA. Typically, 1W LEDs should not be driven harder than 350mA.

Also note that 120v output is out of spec for that driver. Max output is supposed to be limited to 100v. You also can't really test an LED driver without a load, so anything that you measured won't be accurate. You would need a power resistor that is spec'd to 72ohms at 35W (or higher) to load test the bottom of the range of that driver. Here is one that would work:

Problem solved.

One of the white lights kind of broke and created a very bad contact with the aluminium base (specifically the positive of the connection). After bypassing this light the system got back to normal.

Thank you all!
