fastuno
What is your favorite/best SPS or mostly SPS nano tank? Is there any mostly SPS nano tank that is awesome & has very little equipment...no skimmer...etc? Link to comment
shawnriv
I don't think there is. SPS dominated nano tanks are very difficult without a some form of nutrient export. Even if you're doing large water changes it may throw off your water parameters (alkalinity most importantly) and stress out the corals. SPS are very sensitivity to any inconsistencies. lkoechle
NanoTopia has always had great tanks. But yeah, from seeing all the really fantastic SPS nanos, they are usually running skimmers and more for nutrient export. Not to mention dosing. Having it done automatically really does make a difference. http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/296532-nanotopias-zeovit-80l/ Link to comment
uwdanno
Sk8nreefer didn't run a skimmer on his totm 16 gal. He also did manual dosing for a year straight. It's do able if you are committed Link to comment

Scorched
I definitely wont claim to be the best but I keep a mix of sps and lps and have never used a skimmer. 12 Gallons Check out some of the TOTMs there are quite a few SPS nanos on there. Link to comment

fastuno
Great tanks! I will have to analyze all of them, starting with Scorches first. Link to comment
fastuno
Scorched, I cannot post on your thread there & page 48 fails the server load. Out of curiosity, why did you not choose a 30g long or a 40g breeder & given yourself more future room for growth? Also I have some questions regarding your water change for that tank: 1) How much water do you change out at a time? 2) How often do you do the water changes? 3) Which salt mix do you use? 4) Do you let the new salt mix for a few hours, overnight or use it right away after mix? 5) Do you add anything to the fresh/new salt water before changing out water in your tank (trace minerals...kalk)?
