AC50 Overflowing using InTank Media Basket

I am running an AC50 with the InTank media basket on my 17g tank.

The media bascket has filter pad, chemi-pure bag on the bottom and purigen bag on the top.

The problem is the intake chamber of the AC keeps overflowing when its run on high, I can lower the water level by reducing the intake but that also reduces the turn over rate.

And the moment the filter pad gets a bit of gunk on it it's overflowing again.

Others must be experiencing this, any thoughts ?

I have an AC70 and an AC20 running in my 10G. The AC70 is filled with Live Rock rubble and some floss in the first chamber (inTank media basket) and it runs on low. It overflows a bit if I crank it up full but it just cycles back into the tank. The AC20 runs at full with floss - Purigen - ChemiPure Blue (inTank media basket) and there's no issue. I have set both units to tilt slightly forward by adjusting the little knob underneath them that rests against the tank. I found that helped force the water back into the tank at least and not behind it if it becomes an issue. I assume you are using the pre-packaged Purigen? That's what I use in the AC20 but it's pretty big and thick so it'll restrict the flow for sure. I think I might buy a media bag and fill it with Purigen on my own so it's slightly smaller. I also have an MP10wQD to help with flow so I don't rely on the AC's strictly for that.

None of this may help haha.

If you run it without filter media in it does it overflow? Probably not, right? Then its your filter media. I had the same issue when I was really packing out my inTank basket, once I put less media in it's been fine ever since (I only change out my media once a month).
