Vodka dosing

Hi guys,

Have a question on vodka dosing.

my weekly maintenance is a 20 precent water change.

my parameters are always;

Salifert kits

PH: 8.2

CA: 450 ppm

KH: 10 dhk

NO3: 2-5ppm max

PO4: 0? even at double sensitivity salifert test.

could I start a maintenance vodka dose - even though my parameters aren't bad??

Vodka is a carbon source which is common in low nutrient systems which looks like what you are running so it wouldn't hurt you to dose it.

That's what I was thinking. problems occur when you have high nutrient levels to start with than carbon dose??

so if I start a low low dose and keep it there I wont see any negative effects?

If your corals are already acclimated to the very low nutrient levels then adding carbon won't bring any adverse effects and will just allow you to keep the levels low easier.

Here is a good article on volka dosing (http://saltwater-conversion.com/pages/carbon-dosing).

Just be careful with the dosage specially on a nano
