Nano Box mini work?

I want to light a 20x20x8. Not an sps tank. So will the nano give me that spread or will I have to go duo?

Go with the DUO for full SPS.

Yeah I was guessing that. But I'm just going LPS and softies. Will it work for that?

I like my duo over my 10G way more than the mini. the low light on the edges was just too much VS making the middle not fry out.

What are the dimensions of your tank? I'd be running the duo so low.

I have a nano and it just covers a spread of about 15" with heavy rock work (also no sps) so I would go with something larger.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I was afraid of. But oh well, a good light will last me awhile since I don't see myself building other then Nanos :P

20 x 11 x 13, standard 10G

Dou would last a long time for sure.

How are you liking the duo box? Worth the price? How controllable it is and looks have me almost sold on it.

I love it. The new ones come with a bluefish mini standard and you can go 2 ch or 4 channels. Mine is 2 and works for me, but some want that extra control. My Zoas are sofies do not mind the high amount of light I have it set to.

Well I pulled the trigger after debating all night wether to spend the money, I can afford it but I'm a Jew ok. I'm very excited to get my hands on it.... Now the waiting begins and constant Google doc checking.

I very much relate to that. It was an avalanche after I got the Duo... then I got the Vortech...then I got Apex.. Now I am building onto the Apex..

Same struggle here

Problem is if you go cheap, you'll have to upgrade in the future and that will be even more expensive

There are things you can go "cheap" on (I love my Jebao RW-8 after owning several MP10s; I've had a Maxi-Jet Utility 1800 running perfectly for four years now and was half the price of an Eheim 1260; however those are more buying mid-range quality instead of cheap), but lighting isn't one of them. It's always important to know what you're getting yourself into. A nanobox duo is an incredible piece of kit. It's expensive, but worth it for the ability to customize your light and the hand-made quality. Not to mention it has hands down the best light quality of any LED light on the market. Better than AI. Better than Radions. Better than Orphek.

First world problems, but I can relate. Reefing was supposed to cost me 500-600 bucks total, but one part after the next and well...it is MUCH higher.

Well I already have the vortech. Maybe apex next :P

I think there are really good "budget" priced lights out there, Espically for Nanos. But I do agree with you, I think everyone who first gets into reefing tries to save money here and there. Then down the line they upgrade all their parts, it's what I did. I'm excited for my first fully controllable light that's for sure.

Like I started off lighting my NanoCUbe stock, then bought these LED strips for $120. Waste of money, and then I eventually bought a used Radion for $200. Better off buying a quality used unit than a cheap new unit IMO

Yeah that's pretty crazy but hey we live and learn.
