Adding fish for the first time

Hello reefers so i recently set out to create a 15 gallon aquarium my tank has been cycling for the past four to five weeks. I went to the lfs and had my params tested and ammonia was at 0 and ph and nitrate were good to go, ph was at 8.2 i believe.

So now my question I plan on having two clowns and im wondering should i add one or add two at the same time. Ive heard compelling arguements for both options and would like some input on how to proceed. :)

Well in my 14 gallon I had a midnight for about 5 months and then got a oscer.I think it is best to get them at the same time. The only reason for me was my midnight started to be unhappy so I got one.It is up to you.But if you get one an then a month or two later then the first one will become the female.Because the first one will have tarritory there for the more aggressive one will become the female.

When my tank was finished cycling, I added both clowns at the same time (well, they were also already a bonded pair). I did make sure I had some Dr. Tim's one and only available in the event that my newly cycled tank needed a bacteria boost to handle the livestock.

If you plan to have 2, you definitely want to add both at the same time, and try to buy them as a bonded pair. The only way to have 2 clowns coexist in that size of a tank for the long term is for them to be a bonded pair. If they are not, they may fight each other(and this may be right away or down the line). You can try to pair them yourself, but it is a much easier process if they are already bonded.

You should read up more on clown's social behavior.

You guys i purchased a bonded pair at my LFS they had been there since the day i bought my aquarium from them. They seem to have warmed up nicely to my tank. I will purchase some of Dr. Tims one and only just in case hahaha. Thank you for your input it is greatly appreciated.

Nice! I agree with cchsoracle on the clown behaviors so I'm glad you found a bonded pair! And I'm probably overly cautious regarding the Dr. Tim's, but it always makes me feel better to have it on hand. I'm also the one with the Seachem ammonia badge still in my tank :)

Thank you Stella, I really like them they have such funny personalities I've been watching them from my desk all day they bring a sort of relaxing effect to the household. They have been swimming all day exploring i presume they seem to really love the magfloat in the tank. today when i fed them they ate quite well not as aggressive as i had hoped but still managed to eat about 1/6th of a Hikari brine shrimp cube that i thawed with tank water and drained. I tested my Ammonia today and I'm still at 0 so i have some peace of mind. Also quick question if i were to need Dr. Tim's bacteria how would i add it, and would i do the whole bottle its a 15 gallon all in one? Thank you once again.

Clowns are definitely fun to watch!

I would not add the whole bottle. There are directions on the side which indicate how much to add - I'd just follow those. It does say on the bottle that you can't overdose it, but I would still not add the whole bottle.

Funny, mine seem to love my mag float too?. That's good that they're eating, mine fasted for a week before they would eat.
