Digitata being eaten...

It looks like something in munching my Monti digitata. My first thought was MEN but I can't see any. What I can see, after dark, is a growing population of small snails or whelks. Anyone have any idea if these could be responsible?

Thanks.

Hmmm.

That is similar to a water quality or stress issue, and the snails might be cleaning up. A lot of times it looks like a pest when it really isn't. What type of digitata is that? The orange below it looks healthy.

Thanks for the reply.

The orange below is a piece that broke off and was re-set. At the tips and the upper surfaces, the colour of the bigger piece is the same. I wonder if the lack of diffusion in the LED lighting might be a factor in the colour.

It's growing pretty well, though I've had some stability issues lately (bubble in overflow backing up water in the tank, sump level dropping, ATO dumping its load in).

I'm going to guess stability issues, and it will probably recover just fine. It may be light related as well, especially if dead spots don't show up on lighted surfaces.
