BombBuster12
My Fusion 10 Build Thread Okay, just to catch up... I started this tank near the beginning of April this year. My LFS was running a sale on this tank that was too good to pass up, . It cycled for a good 3 weeks, using a mixture of ammonia and RO water from my LFS. The first fish I added was a Tail Spot Blenny, and he has been very happy for the month or so that I have had him. I hope you guys enjoy, and I will try my best to post as frequently as I can! BombBuster12
The tank has been running near 2 months now, and I am starting to get the wild case of diatom bloom /w a tad bit of green algae. I am going to my LFS to pick up the start of my clean up crew tomorrow. As far a water parameters go, I am still in check. Finally, I just ordered the InTank media basket and an Eheim Compact 600 tonight. Link to comment
BombBuster12
What are your livestock plans? I'm not quite sure yet, maybe some green banded gobies or maybe a black misbar clown. Link to comment
BombBuster12
So today was a pretty eventful day for the Fusion 10. Hopefully my orders from BRS and InTank ship soon... I started of this morning with a five gallon water change in hopes of reducing the amount of diatoms I currently have. Those are the before and after of the diatom destruction, lol. Then I double-checked my nitrate levels really quick, and headed to my LFS. I came home and started acclimating the beginnings of the clean-up crew, 2 star snails and 2 cerith snails. I also wound up purchasing the first piece of coral, which is a $5 orange/blue zoa. So, hopefully everything goes well... And placed this coral next to my island rock, in hopes of starting a zoa colony sometime soon. Lastly, I also have pictures of my TSB and one of the snails on the top of the rocks. HarryPotter
Ahhhhhh amazing stuff! PLEASE in the future dip ALL the corals you buy in CoralRX or another dip. You DO NOT want to introduce parasites into the beautiful tank! Link to comment
BombBuster12
Well I misdiagnosed my algae issue as diatoms, when I actually have a nasty case of Dinoflagellates Any reccomendations on how to get rid of it are more than welcome! @Harryjsinger, No worries man I made sure to pick some up with me. And thanks for the compliment on my tank, I'm excited to watch your new build thread too. Link to comment
Reefkid88
Awesome looking tank. I love these tanks so much. If you think it's Dino's,get in contact with JediBen,he fought it for the longest time. Link to comment
Fishstiks
Nice tank, love your scape! Love your blenny too, missing mine a lot (keep your lid on). :-( Link to comment
BombBuster12
@FishStiks. Thanks, Yeah I dabbled around with the scape for a while before I wound up gluing it. It's kinda difficult to scape in something that small. And yes, my TSB will always be one of my favorite. Link to comment
BombBuster12
Well guys, here's an update on the algae situation. As to be expected, it's everywhere... On the brighter side of things, my zoa seems to be opening up nicely. Sadly though I think it will probably die in the process of getting rid of this algae infestation. Here's some pictures of the tank I took last night... 100% looks like Dinoflagellates to me... I also heard that Dino was toxic to snails, is that true? Any recommendations or advice is totally welcome Link to comment
HarryPotter
Lol FYI the "@" symbol doesn't tag someone. You have to quote them As for Dino's, just search this site. Many people have dealt with it in the past- yours doesn't look particularly bad. Water changes and vacuuming are my go to for anything unwanted Link to comment
BombBuster12
Just checked my nitrates, and they are still hovering around 2 ppm. I've been keeping my lights off for most of the day and only turning them on to feed my blenny. Hopefully that will help keep some of the excess dino from growing. My shipments from inTank and BRS came in today, and I'm very pleased with both. I'm going to do some work tonight on the wiring in the cabinet and install the Ehiem 600 & inTank media basket. BombBuster12
Well, I think the Dino problem has been ridden from my tank for now... I'm running my lights on a normal cycle and nothing is returning. I think I may have either high nitrate/phosphates, so I went to my LFS and picked up some Clear-FX. So tomorrow I will do a water change, add the clear fx, and scrub off most of the diatoms I currently have. As far as current livestock goes, my TSB & Zoa frag seem to be doing quite well. I'm tempted to add some more livestock after I finish my new PC build (hopefully by the beginning of July). Either a Onyx Percula Clown or a goby & pistol pair. Also a good frag of birdsnest or a nice hammer would be cool. Link to comment
BombBuster12
Hey guys, I decided to take a quick shot of the zoa frag and record its growth. It has colored up tremendously and grows quite steadily. Link to comment
