HarryPotter
Hi! Sea horses NEED plants to hold themselves. Like this, it cannot get lower and is somewhat dangerous for the seahorse. Sea horses require low flow and things to hang on from- I reccomend you work on this or return it! Link to comment

HarryPotter
Yeah, pretty much reef tanks and sea horses don't mix. They require two totally different ecosystems! Please do some research online on them! Link to comment
The Aquarist
Why do you have anemones and lps with seahorses? They need species specific tanks where nothing can sting them and they fare better in cooler water. I'm sorry but that is an unacceptable environment for seahorses. For the upside down issue, read this: http://www.seahorse.org/library/articles/pouchevac.shtml And please find a new home for the seahorse. Link to comment
vlangel
Actually I too have seahorses and they should still be upright even without hitches. Many times if a male seahorse is floating like that it is because they have gas bubble disease in their pouch. That condition requires a pouch evacuation. You can read on fusejaw.com on how to do that. They say it is not hard but I have never done it. It is now believed the condition may be due to a water quality problem. Seahorses need higher quality water than reef tanks and other marine fish due their poor immune systems. I would do a series of water changes over the next several days to improve water quality or move the affected seahorse into a hospital tank with freshly made salt water that matches pH and temperature of its tank. Seahorses do best in tanks with excellant filtration and 10Xs or more turn over. They should have hitches in high, medium and low flow areas. Link to comment
HarryPotter
Overall I think everyone here knows that a reef tank is unsuitable for sea horses. Your anemone can kill them, you have too much flow for them to swim, you don't have any hitch locations, and the water quality is not high enough. Not trying to be pessimistic or discouraging, but you really need to return it and consider conducting more research before you purchase your livestock. You COULD (theoretically) make a seahorse tank, but even those are difficult Link to comment
vlangel
I also agree with the Aquarist that seahorses and any stinging coral do not mix. The seahorse does not have scales to protect it from stings. Also seahorses are prone to bacterial infections when in a tank higher than 74 degrees. Link to comment
burakerkal
First of all, thank you so much for your kind comments. I consult the shop before I bought and showed my tank's picture. They said, it was okay, so i bought it. Honestly i didnt research so much before i bought and I know it is also my fault. So, I have to fix this problem and i will. So I will make a new tank for them and will transfer them as soon as cycle is completed. Meanwhile I will read and research more and please accept my apology if I consult you for further advice. TheKleinReef
It may be worth it to message Rehype, he has effectively mastered a full reef with seahorses. Check his thread out, I'd link it but I'm on my phone. Link to comment

You may consult me with any questions and I will be glad to help. I did not mean to come across critical and I am sorry if I did. Actually many years ago I bought a pair of seahorses and put them in the sump of my reef tank not realizing that the conditions were not suitable for them. Most of us who are now keeping seahorses made mistakes in the beginning. I wish you the best of luck and I will help if you need it. Link to comment

ndrobey
I would not do business with a store that gave me such bad advice just to make a sale. Link to comment
Halo_003
The horse in with the anemone is not ideal, for the time being you can put the horse in a breeder box to separate them and give it some plastic plants to hitch on while you setup a new tank or find it a new home. I would not do business with a store that gave me such bad advice just to make a sale. Unfortunately I think this is pretty common. When I started the hobby with a 10G the store tried to push me a Picasso trigger. I told them I would think about it and left to read, best choice I made SW related lol. Link to comment
