Hi everyone,

I´m on the verge to order a new skimmer.

I have roughly 40 gallons (20g display and 20g sump).

3 small fish, 2 shrimp, 4 snails.

In time it will be a full SPS tank.

I like to be able to feed extra to my fish and corals.

Will the Nyos 120 be to big a skimmer for my setup.?

It´s rated from 26 g to 130g setups, so shouldn´t be an issue right.?

I just want to make sure, that my next skimmer will be the correct one.

Alternatives: Vertex Omega, Skimz, other.???

I have the Nyos, I have about 50 gallons of water and it works great. Skims like a bat outta hell.

Wow skimmer is pricey for a 20 gallon tank! I'd check out bubble magnus, eshopps and JNS/Aquamaxx but I am cheap.

Something like a Eshopps s 120, Curve 5 or CO-1 would be over kill for your tank and half the price of what you are looking at.

Those skimmers( and I've seen most of them and have friends that have them) do not nearly compare to this skimmer. Mine was skimming within hours of being installed out of the box.

How does the noise level on the NYOS compare to say the Bubble Magus?

Mine is dead silent

It could be true that nyos skims better than a bubble magnus but 200 dollars better? I see way more successful tanks with a curve rather than a nyos. That being said fancy stuff has a place in this hobby so spend your money how you see fit.

I like fancy stuff, silent stuff, and working stuff.

Nyos are all these things.

My Bubble Magus 5 has just died on me after 2 months. I'm looking at NYOS but it needs to be quieter than the BM. Would you be able to record a video or use an app to detect the decibel coming from the skimmer alone please?

Not sure why people get so defensive about expensive stuff in the hobby. Just giving you alternatives.

Sorry Bill, not supposed to sound like that at all.!

I´m in no way offended, or anything like that.

I like alternatives :)

I have however, just ordered the Nyos 120, and looking very much forward receive it.

I will make sure to give my feedback, regarding the noise (or lack of) in this thread.

I have no experience with BM.

Fellow reefers from my local forum, have had the Nyos, among many other brands, and they swear by it.

Performance, noiselevel, tuning - All good they say.

Tagging along for the comparison- looking around for the best skimmer for my RL-45 with 20ish gallon sump!

Debating Nyos 120, SRO 2000, Curve 7 atm

Ohhh...thats a sexy looking skimmer.

not sure if I would put that on a 26gal tank tho, and its a bit of a stretch to have it on a 130gal tank...non the less, it looks pretty
