Deejax
I'm looking to get a more seldom seen basslet for my tank and was hopefully looking for someone who has some experience keeping any. I have 3 in mind right now Snow Bass – Serranus chionaraia – max size 2 inch Orangeback Bass- Serranus annularis – max size 3 inch Belted sandfish – Serranus subligarius – max size 2 inch I'm just looking for anyone with experience that could verify these sizes I found and give me some info on their temperaments. Also any info on how to find these lesser seen fish would be appreciated too Link to comment
1.0reef
I'm looking to get a more seldom seen basslet for my tank and was hopefully looking for someone who has some experience keeping any. I have 3 in mind right now Snow Bass – Serranus chionaraia – max size 2 inch Max size is 5cm so about 2 inches. Very hard to find, IIRC only a few have made it to the US. Orangeback Bass- Serranus annularis – max size 3 inch Max size 9cm, about 3.5 inches, pretty hard to find. But could be special ordered through a good LFS considering most of their population only lives 20-30 meters down. Belted sandfish – Serranus subligarius – max size 2 inch Max size is 10cm, about 4 inches, these live in shallow water (10 meters or so) so they should be easier to special order. I'm just looking for anyone with experience that could verify these sizes I found and give me some info on their temperaments. Also any info on how to find these lesser seen fish would be appreciated too Likely peaceful, will probably eat smaller inverts. Link to comment
