tanacharison
So after admiring many nano tanks on the forms I decided to sign up with a little project on my own. tanacharison
Kessil 160 with a Spectral Controller and Gooseneck. I love the light but I'm not a fan of the gooseneck, I can't get it to sit all they way down without the metal bracket sitting in the water. I'm going to be looking for another solution soon. The new heater looks 100% better and I've seen almost no temperature fluctuations. I ran tests again today and we are right in the middle of cycling hopefully we will be ready for corals in a few weeks. On another plus my plumbing parts came for my diy project. I have a old nextreef skimmer I'm going to turn into a recirculating skimmer with gate valve. This will be on my 26 gallon shallow. Link to comment
Jsheffield85
I just de-rimmed mine. MUCH easier to work with if you are not using all the old plastics. Link to comment
tanacharison
I have thought about doing that but odds are I would destroy something. I have considered a few times in the past week picking up a mr aqua 6 and ending the suffering. Haha Link to comment
Jsheffield85
Super easy, all I used was monofilament fishing string. I did it with everything still in the tank. I'm sure you could find some videos on YouTube. It's def worth it. Link to comment
tanacharison
Ok I'm in... I'll post picks of the aftermath haha. Fishing line you say? I've seen the razor blade video. Link to comment
Jsheffield85
Yea I just tied both ends to small wood blocks so I didn't tear my hands up, once you get started it goes pretty quick. I'll see if I can find a video or something Link to comment
Jsheffield85
No luck finding a video, just go slow and use the string like a hand saw, some really fine wire would be better if you have some on hand. Good luck though, you won't regret it in the end. Link to comment
tanacharison
I took her top off ;-) Link to comment
Jsheffield85
Awesome, good job. Looks really good. Come off pretty easy? Link to comment
tanacharison
It was not that bad I used a razor blade most of the way. I'm considering adding a mame overflow and the new nano eshops sump now that it's a true rimless. The mp10 needs adjusted because it draws a little air twister at the peak of reefcrest. skyscraper2290
Looking really good! Seems like the derimming went smoothly. I considered this tank for my first reef tank but eventually moved away from it but it still an awesome tank. Link to comment
tanacharison
Yeah it took about 15 minutes, It was painless. I wish I did this before I aquascaped the tank.. my life would have been much easier. At least I wont be struggling when it comes to placing corals. Link to comment
tanacharison
UPS delivered some new equipment today! Link to comment
tanacharison
So after a hard days work overflow is built and sump is running. I'm having issues with the overflow sitting flush on the tank but hopefully I will figure it out soon. Tank needs some major cleaning but everything is going well. Aquascape is less interrupted with only the new overflow in the tank. New Sump! Eye Candy... Lets hope it wont flood my room. Link to comment

tanacharison
Looking to order and start qt on a fish.. Any stocking suggestions? I'm thinking only one will be suitable for this size tank with the coral bioload that will eventually take place. Link to comment
