missing hectors goby.

proper acclimation was done,
16 nuvo stock list as follows:
hifin goby
yellow watchman goby
yellow clown goby
bumble bee goby
firefish goby
diamond goby
cleaner shrimp
tiger pistol shrimp

hectors goby completely disappeared 2 days ago, absolutly no trace,i checked the floor,rear chambers,rock work,everywhere,would the tiger pistol eat him?

He might show back up, but sometimes it just happens. Seems like a pretty heavy fish load for that size tank imo though.

Yeah, I agree with Sugardaddy1979. I thought my Yashi was gone. He slipped into my pistol shrimp's hole for the first time, and he must have startled the shrimp. I heard a series of 3-4 clicks from the shrimp and I figured the Yashi was dead. Well, about 5 days later, I was feeding, and guess who popped out...Yep, the Yashi. Keep your eyes open and your fingers crossed!

When my YWG was in my old biocube, he was super tiny so he would get sucked into the overflow. I know you checked the rear chamber, but he may be hidden in there somewhere. I think a pistol could kill your goby, but I don't know if he (and the CUC) would completely eat him leaving absolutely no trace in just a day or two.

 

Gobies are peaceful fish for the most part, but they can get aggressive toward others of their same species. I know you have 7 different kinds of gobies in there, but t gobies (and blennies, too) can become aggressive toward other fish that just look similar to themselves.

 

If I'm doing my right, you have 6 gobies accounted for and 1 MIA. Seven gobies in one small tank could be problematic. Especially if the pistol has picked its partner and others are trying to move in.

 

EDIT: Do you have a dog or cat? Some gobies will jump from the tank, and he might have jumped out and been eaten. Hope he's OK, though! Gobies are the best.

thanks for all the insight i appreciate it,im setting up another nano tank at my job this week thats why i have my nuvo so packed at the moment,its very temporary for right now.never thought if the tiger paired other gobys would be suspect lol,live and we learn right?but in this hobby it can be costly.im gonna check the rock again today,hopefully he resurfaces,have a bad feeling the tiger got him.
