WibblyPig Can Build a Wobbly Tank

It all started with moving my son's bedroom downstairs. He's been in this little bedroom since he was born and after 10 years we decided he finally needed a bigger room. So, my office downstairs and his bedroom did a switcheroo.

First I needed some ambiance for my office:

That's 400 year old white oak from a civil war era barn all frame and panel construction with resawn panels for the field.

While moving things around, I found an old Eclipse 12 in the basement. I figured I'd just throw it on a filing cabinet and start a nano.

Oh yeah...that's why tape measures were invented...

So I made a quick stand for it

Put a bunch of rock in it and let it cycle. The plan was to do a zoa garden so I started getting little frags from all over the place. I didn't particularly care what the rock looked like since it was all going to be covered in zoas in time.

Flash forward a month and a half and I notice the tank is losing more water than evaporation should account for. Then one day I find salt stains on the wood. The tank had a crack someplace and was losing just enough water that it would evaporate so I never saw actual water. I went to the pet store and they had a good deal on a 27 cube and it fit the space. The stand I built was too small so I just bought the one that came with it and put it up. Went to the store and bought 20 gallons of salt water to go wit the 5 I already had. Got it all up to temp (never throw away old heaters!) and the switch over only took a couple of hours.

Since I had a bigger tank, I decided to do LPS on the bottom and zoas on top. I'm running 2 LED lights on it, 2 HOB filters (1 has the heater and rubble, the other is just rubble) and a Koralia powerhead.

Current inhabitants are a yellow coris wrasse that will be traded for a smaller one after it gets too big for the tank, a Wheeler's goby and pistol pair and the usual clean up crew. Here are a few tank shots from yesterday (3/3) with the tank being about 6 weeks old.
