Mojado Posted March 2, 2015 Share Posted March 2, 2015 Have any of you been able to completely replace the use of Phosguard or GFO with chaeto? My ball of chaeto is really huge now (more like a huge matt than a ball, now). My Phosguard is nearing 40 days when I would usually replace it every 3 weeks. I'm measuring P04 and things are holding steady. Any of you been able to stop using Phosguard/GFO and use only chaeto? I also have a skimmer on a 12hour on/off schedule, btw. Link to comment
Ahanix Posted March 2, 2015 Share Posted March 2, 2015 I know it's definitely an old school way of looking at it, and it seems to work. People have had success with Chaeto in the past. I've never really used any sump space for any kind of Fuge but have always done different methods of dosing / P04 Control. Really with any effective form of parameter control: I would just keep watching everthing, chances are your Phosguard could still be working, but if you pull the Phosguard out and your numbers stay steady, then there's no reason to fix something that isn't broken Link to comment
