Chad's ARC 6.25 Nano Reef

Hello all - starting a build thread for my new tank, the Petco ARC 6.25.

All livestock, live rock, coral, and fish were transferred from my old Spec V.

Livestock Includes: True Perc, Yellowtail Damsel, GBTA, CUC, GSP, Kenya Tree, Radioactive Zoas, Torch, Duncan, Flordia Ricordea Mushroom, Assorted Fuzzy Green Mushrooms, Red and Blue Discomosa and Lobo.

I decided to go with Reef Sand for this tank, my spec was BB.

Used the MiniJet 606 Pump rather than the pump that came with the ARC, as it is more flow.

Two Koralia Powerheads on each side of in tank "sump/overflow".

Cobalt Neotherm Heater in middle sump compartment set to 78 degrees.

Back of tank is painted black.

Apex Jr controlling heater, cooling fan, and pumps.

Current USA Marine LED 18" with Ramp Timer Pro for lighting.

Filtration includes my live rock, assisted by Chemi Pure Blue, Purigen, Phosguard in first sump chamber with Filter Floss cut to fit on top.

Had a BioCube skimmer on my Spec, however I love the glass top that comes with the ARC, so the skimmer would not work with the top. I will be the skimmer for this tank through regular water changes until I find a suitable top or see a reason to add the skimmer back to the setup.

FTS Attached was day after setup/transfer. February 21, 2015.

I currently using the glass top that came with the tank. Anyone ever had a problem with clowns jumping? I have lost two to a jump so no top is very scary for me, and pretty much out of the question as I have learned my lesson. I thought about the BRS screen top kit but the tank is bow front.. wouldn't cover completely.

Update for you guys... My True Perc finally started hosting my GBTA yesterday. I feel accomplished. Lol. I'll post up some pictures in the next day or so.

I'm considering this tank for a nano. My other consideration is an Mr. Aqua 13.3 bow. I'm leaning towards the Arc 6.25 since water changes will be even less troublesome making it more likely to complete them. Plus I like the internal filtration. I would have to add a hang on to the 13.3. Any advice on a 6.25 setup that you can pass on? BTW, tank looks great.

You actually shouldn't really need to run purigen with chemi pure blue as it has a similar ingredient in it separating it from chemi pure elite.

Sorry for the lack of updates, very busy time (summer) at work. In the meantime I have also switched tanks again before this one even got off the ground.

I have upgraded yet again, not a pico this time.... Everything has been converted to a standard 29 gallon with 10 gallon sump.

I understand the compulsion to go bigger and bigger. I'm on my second tank in 2 months and already shopping for a bigger one, lol.
