What, your address?

Have you checked your mail lately? Everyone knows your name and address. It's not a secret or an identity.

IMO you are fine

What worries me is the flood of credit card numbers that will see their way into vendors which may be out hundreds depending on how closely they look at orders. Then those vendors if targeted and ship or give out goods will see chargebacks. The chargepacks will be approved an ontop of that at the least a $25 fee plus the loss of shipping, goods, and income.

The only ID you have these days is your SSN. And you give that to the cable guy over the phone....

Your credit card is not your identity. It is numbers that you have a net account with. And it never was your money when charged. Which is exaclty why you should always run everything as credit.

LOL, you "Should" have my addy, I buy from you once a month......

Hey all,
Here is another company that got hacked online, and we use it.

Bulk Reef Supply stating that their website was compromised from July 30th 2014- until Jan 21st 2015!

So if you have been replacing your current credits cards more than usual and shopped here, this may be the reason why

Got snow :)?

It's been a mish-mash down here. Last week started out with 6" of snow, then the deep-freeze hit. School was out most of the week and went back on Fri. Today we've had sleet, freezing rain, just rain, and snow. Everything is slushy and tonight, the deep freeze again.....

I think you guys have had more??

Well Crap!!

Guess who got a letter from BRS???

I get 1 year free security from Experian, after that, who knows??

Fun Times.....

I got my letter from them today myself. I guess I'll use the Experian. My bank has had to reissue credit cards so many times it isn't funny, so I'm sure I'll have acct info changed before my year is up. I once had 3 new credit cards issued in a month bc my bank had 'security breaches'. No. That's a gaping hole from a bomb.

No they don't have your SSN

And even if they did you can dispute it with 100% ease.

Plus new cards have to be mailed to your billing address ie your house.

Y'all should all have credit and fraud monitoring anyway. It's like $15/month from identity guard for all three bureaus

And it takes like 30 seconds to order a new card. Like StevieT said, this really isn't a big deal at all for customers. Shit happens all the time. Look at Target lol

Yeah, I don't think I'd want to tell the dude that lost 2k that......

Hectic..... You don't find this the least bit disturbing this $hit is happening on a regular basis??

I just checked my bank account and learned three things.

1. I pay too many tolls

2. I spend way too much at Safeway (read liquor store)

3. No one would want to steal my identity

Good idea to head over to BRS and change up that password regardless.

I had a business call me once about an $980 charge on my AMEX account they were about to run--for 4 ping pong paddles.

He had been burned in recent days and was calling all the high dollar orders to double check.

I wonder if it could be as simple as having a feature on cards where on-line transactions require a confirmation phone call to a number provided by the actual card holder. Hell, I get text messages when anyone pulls money out of an ATM with my bank cards. Great when the wife and I are gambling--I can keep an eye on how many times she plays the ATM game at the casino.

Why couldn't it be that simple? Send me a text and I must reply in 5 minutes or the transaction is cancelled?

Yeah I got my letter today.... I'm bummed it happened to a relatively small company selling reefing supplies.

Like Seabass I've also unfortunately shopped at many retailers hit by hackers. Fortunately my bank seems to be somewhat ahead of the game as they issue me a new card each time this happens (seriously I've gotten like 3 new cards in 2014).

I'll take them up on the offer for 1 year identity protection - as I did when some of the other companies made similar offers. So I'm sure that in a year I'll have another chance for a year of free protection hahaha :scarry:

For now though this doesn't dissuade me completely from shopping at these retailers until it is found that the hacks were somehow a result of negligent behavior.

2 years, wow that's a lot. And it isn't protection, it's monitoring. Protection is already built into your credit card, and most provide monitoring as well. Their systems monitor spending behavior that makes no sense from your past history.

Stolen credit cards are only good for a month or two. Once the stolen acct. number are used they will need to rack up as many charges quickly before that statement is sent or the card member is alerted or they look at their online accounts. Once disputed the card is shut down.

Like HD said, get a new card and move on. It's never your money to start with.

1-800-Flowers... and yeah, the roses that they shipped where already falling apart when they arrived (but they'll replace them).

Me: You'll get some better looking ones in a couple days [after Vantentine's Day].

Her: That'll be nice.

Not really the effect I was shooting for ($75 later).

exactly my experience with pro flowers <_<
