ender wiggin
So, I've had this cube set up a couple times and it never lasts long. Well, I'm determined to make something of it this time. I'm also setting up a 90g kinda at the same time so hopefully I'll be able to do some crossovers. Tank: Mr. Aqua 12x12x12 cube lights: Fluval Sea LEDs Rock: dry rock from LFS Filter: AquaClear 20 - just to hold a little media and mechanical filter and water movement powerhead: koralia nano Sand: about 7 lbs of fiji pink sand A few months ago, I went on vacation and BOTH of my water movers stopped working and I came home to still green water and a dead goby and shrimp. So since then, I've just had rock and water. Well, I decided it was time for new rock so I bought some dry rock from a LFS and tossed some water in there. Its been cycling for about a week and since I've tossed some fish food in there, i'm getting some nice ammonia readings. Now to wait for everything to balance out. =) Be patient! Hope some people follow along =) i'm super happy with my scape! Rock Night lights All the lights on. All clean! My iphone pics =) Thanks for reading! Link to comment
ender wiggin
So, This is my first time using Dry Rock and I'm not 100% confident in my cycling abilities with it. - At first I figured I'd just toss some food in there and the bacteria would grow. - Then I thought about it and wasn't sure if bacteria had to come FROM somewhere. - So I put some live rock from my old tank that was still sitting in a bucket with water movement. - After a day, my parameters were almost all zero and I was like hmm...seems like my live rock help was helping TOO much. So i took it out. - I went and bought some Brightwell Aquatics MicroBacter7 which is supposed to help ADD all that helpful bacteria. Well, it seems to be working. After just a couple days, my ammonia is dropping, my nitrites are going up and my nitrates have jumped huge. Sooooo, am I doing this right?? lol....I had so much more faith last time when I was using live rock that came from the ocean and just let it cycle for a month or so. Hopefully this works out. I was hoping that I'd be able to get a fish or coral or something in there before the 2 month mark. =) Link to comment
