sylm_24
I bought a hydnophora frag yesterday and it still has not opened. Is this normal and I'm worrying for nothing? I checked my parameters and everything is good. My nitrates are not at 0 but nothing to worry. calcium 480-500 alk 9 dkh salinity 1.027 phosphate (as close to 0 as I can get it) I use RO from store. The other corals in the tank seem to be doing well. I have acans, blastos, hammer, candy cane and lobo. They are fully opened up. Pistol shrimp and harlequin serpent star moving around like normal. I read that they like medium flow and medium-high light. Right now, I have placed it on the sand to get used to my led lighting. I have a biocube 14 with 2 panorama pro so I don't to place it too high right away. So again, question is: is it still getting acclimated to the tank and is there something wrong? Link to comment
Mr. Microscope
It's probably fine. Give it a few days and watch for tissue recession. Your salinity is a little high. Some corals are sensitive to that. Maybe bring it down to 1.025-26, but I wouldn't worry too much. Be warned, hydnophora are very aggressive and can take out corals within a few inches. neverrain
My hyndo didn't open for quite a few days either after I got it. They also seem to love a lot of flow. Link to comment
