BenitaSolo
Okay. My tank is 24'' long, 18" wide, and 21" deep. I don't plan on keeping any sps. I will def. be keeping a wide range of lps and softies. I bought a reefbreeders phot 24. Which is a 24 inch fixture. My question is; should I have gone with the 16 inch fixture? Both have 90 degree optics. My concern is that I'm wasting light and would have been better off with the smaller fixture. My gut tells me it doesn't matter. Anyway, I notice that most led fixtures don't span the length of the tanks they sit over. What's the main reason for this? I hope this question isn't a waste of space! Thanks Ben Link to comment
Horerczy
If anything you did yourself a favor by ensureing the corners of the tank will have more light. Most of our fixtures don't span the length of the tank because we can keep the tank illuminated without doing so doens't mean a fixture spaning the length of the tank is a bad thing. Heck you can probably get away with running the leds a little lower because you got the bigger fixture and that's always a good thing. Link to comment

If you look at the 16 vs the 24, they put out virtually the same amount of light. What you have given yourself is better light distribution over your tank. That's a good thing. Link to comment
GHill762
Agree with above Although the 16 would have perfectly fine coverage over a 24" tank Link to comment
