I recently revamped and fixed some stuff that wasn't working and decide to start a build thread so everyone can follow along and offer me advice enjoy. Link to comment
Saultman Posted February 1, 2015 Author Share Posted February 1, 2015 I broke everything down and moved all the livestock into the qt cleaned everything changed all the piping and added 18 pounds of reef saver LR and new special grade sand. Just some more info on the tank I made a small box that goes in the tank with a sicce 1.0 in it that pumps up to my sump. Water that is gravity fed back to my tank then overflows this box so i can surface skim as well as have a place for my float switch. My ato adds about 20 ml at a time using a aqua lifter which maintains a vary constent lvl in the box. Its hard to get good flow all around in a column this small so I'm running a MP10 as well as a jeabo WP10 that is at the bottom and point straight up along the back wall Link to comment

Saultman Posted February 1, 2015 Author Share Posted February 1, 2015 I would prefer not to have a column but this tank just fit there so well. it's hard to reach the bottom and hard to Aquascape and if a coral falls to the bottom it's probably going to stay there until I do a water change. Marc.The.Shark Posted February 1, 2015 Share Posted February 1, 2015 I like the scape. I have a cylinder tank about that height & I know what you mean about getting to the bottom,. I have a pair of aquascaping tongs, must be about 24" or so, that helps a lot. Beleive me, it gets worse when you have some coral in there! Looks cool tho, I get compliments all the time cause its different. Link to comment

I'm still waiting for the tank to cycle I'm not rushing it just been running the tank with no filtration and been ghost feeding every other day. Mean while my livestock is in a 10g I set up with my old live rock under a par38. Everything is looking good running a ac50 with chemipure and purigen. I'm also trying to track down a used apex just so I can mostly remote monitor and switch over my ATO. Also Thinking a kessil would be better for the column then my AI nano. Any Thoughts ? Saultman Posted February 12, 2015 Author Share Posted February 12, 2015 Well the tank is done cycling but my hydor theo heater that I've had for a couple years now is acting up and temp is swinging a couple degrees so I'm holding off putting anything in the tank until my new heater shows up. On a side note I picked up a couple peppermint shrimp for the QT because I have a zoo colony in there overrun with aptasia. Not really expecting the shrimp to do much when I bought them but I figured if they ate a few then that would be a win. The next morning there is no aptasia left in the whole tank! These little guys have been vary active and have become quite interesting to watch. Link to comment
