2004jeeplaredo Posted January 31, 2015 Share Posted January 31, 2015 I have yellow polyps growing on a rock with other prized corals now and they sting other corals and i feel they could take over. Ive tried scraping them off with a razor but they just grow back and multiply. I cant remove the rock they are on without screwing everything up. Any ideas? I heard of people using lye to kill aptasia, what about these? Link to comment

Benny314 Posted January 31, 2015 Share Posted January 31, 2015 Seems a shame to kill off a coral, but covering them with putty would do the trick, bet they wouldn't like aiptasia x or joes juice either. Link to comment
nano_reefer10 Posted January 31, 2015 Share Posted January 31, 2015 If there aren't many more than in your sig you can inject with kalk. Its a bit tedious, but will get the job done nonetheless. I don't think putty would work. I've done that before but yellow polyps will grow into and through the rock to the other side if there are any holes available. Also, these things can live for months with light. I recently had some grow and even regain zooxanthellae after being in complete darkness for all of about 3 months. Link to comment

Well at least there's hope for the yellow polyps I have that have been lightless for ages.Got my lighting sorted Monday so hopefully I'll see some improvement and growth from the 5 or so little nubs I can see. Are the rocks glued together? thanks for the info, i have about triple then whats in the my pic, they arent glued but i have my shrimp and goby pair living under the rocks and SPS growing ontop of the rock and people eaters growing on the base on the left. Anything i can do to inject soething on them is best i think. Link to comment
basser1 Posted January 31, 2015 Share Posted January 31, 2015 Funny..... I have some King Midas zoas that grow like weeds for me. I've tried scrubbing them off and yet they still come back! Then I found out how much they sell for and now I don't mind them so much!! Now mushrooms are a different story. I'd like to nuke those....... Link to comment
brandon429 Posted January 31, 2015 Share Posted January 31, 2015 These polyps are azooxanthellate from threads read long ago? no light needed, just particulate feed from what Ive read. parazoanthus axinellae or something sim I relish them in my tank, and as tank variables go they wont stay long for me even with target feeding. one mans trash heh Link to comment
