tetraodon Posted January 30, 2015 Share Posted January 30, 2015 im working on my tank upgrade, and planning my equipment and such out, and was wondering if there was a real need for a media reactor, i read and see alot of people use them but not allways clear as to the exact reason other than running media, im just trying to get some info so i can adjust accordingly Link to comment
Pinner Reef Posted January 30, 2015 Share Posted January 30, 2015 The best thing about a media reactor is the fact that said media is constantly tumbling around in there so you will not get channels of water flow. This certainly helps get the most out of the media but it's not entirely necessary. If you don't go with a reactor I would certainly make a place somewhere in the the sump that forces water through your bag of media as opposed to just setting the bag in a random corner all passive like. Need carbon, throw it in, want to run some gfo, go for it etc etc. Not necessary but a great way to run some media imo. Link to comment
