snommisbor
Well after getting out of the saltwater reef hobby for about 5 years I decided to see what was up and maybe start again. I had a JBJ 12 gallon with a 150w MH and a Oc Clown, then once my cat had taken it out I took it down and moved everything into my 75 gallon reef. Sold it and have been tank free. The itch came back and I decided to get something small for now and see if I still like it. Going to keep it simple and clean, don't plan on adding a skimmer or anything to it, I always thought that was just overkill and since its a 10 gallon and probably more like a 8 gallon water changes are not that big of a deal. So the stuff: Fusion Nano 10 Kessil A160WE Tuna Blue and a Sprectral Controller Eheim 50W heater Arag Alive Fiji Pink About 6 pounds of Aquacultured Rock And test kits and temperature reader. For now I am going to put it on my bar and then order a stand to put it on later to be able to put a Tunze ATO on it. I had the original Osmolator with my 75 and I don't think you can beat the Tunze for ATO. Think the rock will be done in the photo with some pass throughs and still have some flat areas to put coral. Thats it for now time to get to work. Link to comment

snommisbor
So I did the water test and everything seems to be fine. Set up the Kessil I was thinking the controller could be used to set it up and then disconnect it but I guess it needs to be connected. It is very slick and easy to program. I took some pics but I think I need to get the water in first before I can show the difference in color and intensity. Link to comment
snommisbor
Anyone use the JBJ 12 gallon Nano stand? Also as far as the back 3 part filtration, the compartment that houses the pump where do you usually keep your water level? Link to comment
snommisbor
So I got the water in and the rock work done, there is more in there you just can't see it. Will post another pic one it clears up. Have the lights programmed and it was easy. Went ahead and ordered the JBJ stand, looks like the measurements will work and then I'll move it later this week and clean up the wire work under the stand. I want this to be a very clean tank to where it looks like a piece of living furniture. Link to comment

snommisbor
So it cleared up and here is the rock escaping. I wanted some caves and to have a little lagoon in the center. And to have it where it looked interesting from all sides. Link to comment

snommisbor
Thank you for the welcomes. So I ordered the JBJ Nano stand from Amazon on Saturday and as a Prime Member was supposed to be here today, well yesterday I opened my from door and there was a box from Amazon. So I got the stand a day early. I put it together and set it up and it is a slick stand but I must say after getting it I think I should have looked for a different stand that had a little more room on the inside. It is tight. I mounted a strip and tried to zip tie the cords to look neat and out of the way. I plan on getting the Tunze Nano ATO being I had the regular one years ago in my 75 and it is the best. I just need to figure out what size jug I can put in there. Seems to measure 6 3/4 wide by 11 deep and height should be no problem. I mounted the light controller on the door so it can be read easily and taken off of the magnetic plate if I need to program. Being I started with such a sterile tank I don't think I will have much of a cycle. We are day 4 and still no ammonia at all. The aquacultered rock was man made so there is nothing on it, which is good and bad. I won't have any pest like apatasia later on but could be awhile before some beneficial creatures appear from coral when added to the tank. I decide put a zoa frag in the tank and after a day it has opened up real nice. I am running the 160 on Acclimation mode so over the next 7 days it will get brighter to what I had programmed my daily light run to be. As long as the zoa continues to do well I will probably put more corals in for now and hold off on any livestock. I am thinking a pair of clowns and thats it. If a pair is too much I may just go with one. Any opinions on that? Plus a CUC and maybe a shrimp. We shall see. Here are some progress pics. Link to comment

snommisbor
Just got my InTank. Question what is the little piece sitting on top of my filter holder for? Link to comment
da1001
Just got my InTank. Question what is the little piece sitting on top of my filter holder for? When you put it in your first chamber you slide the basket to the front of the lip where the water comes in, then stick that behind the basket to hold it forward/even/in place. If you don't have it in there and you got your pumps on, your basket starts to float lol. Link to comment
JerryJavelin91
Did you end up going with a pair of clowns? Or is the 10 gal too small? Link to comment
